a happy little holiday

Its been great having a little holiday along with Russell. I know I know I don't actually work lol...but to take some little trips away and spend time on rest and relaxation while Russell has his four weeks off has been....bliss.

One of the tasks we needed to attack, and its been needed for a long time has been to paint the inside of the house. Its been over ten years and the paint that was fabulous and contemporary with its bold walls of solid colour now look tired and faded. Not to mention the scars and wounds left from nurturing three growing boys within their fragile, crumbly surfaces. Ha ha.... So lots of stories being reminisced upon of inside play that should have been outside. Rainy day wars, world championship wrestling that involves body slamming into doors and walls. Ah yes...you understand.

We could spend all our time at home, sprucing up the cave...but this is our holidays and we needed to have some away time so we slotted in a flying trip to Melbourne, that included one of Russell's courses and happened to be Jakes birthday weekend as well . While Russell imparted pearls of wisdom during the day, Jake and I explored Melbourne CBD

It was cold for me, but beautiful sunny Melbourne weather. We went to the museum, checked out King Tutankhamen exhibition, and the rest of the museum, laughed hysterically at the weird creatures, just a little frightened by the animatronics. We visited the art gallery, the Vic Markets and as many little shops we could squeeze in between stops at lovely cafes. In the evenings with Russell we visited restaurants. A lovely Italian inspired Saloon style restaurant, A Croation restaurant with Brad and Trish, Pizza from Lygon street

We finished our visit to Melbourne with a night with my brother and his wife and family and loved it. There's something about family, we loved it. So many things to see and so many ideas and we flew home happy .
Last week saw us tackling a bit more painting and then Friday we packed up for our little escape to Rainbow Beach. We left in overcast skies and drove North into beautiful weather. Ben and Josie joined us for the weekend . We discovered the loveliest wood fired pizza place behind the hotel with a meal to rival anything we had in Italy. We fished during the day and then slept for ten hours or more at night.

We arrived back home yesterday, and today we are going to paint my little scrap booking area so no creating for a few days. It will be so nice to have it all fresh and new. This is Russell's last week and so we'll have time to finish a few more projects before he heads to work. We've read books and watched movies. Sampled some fine red wine and slept and slept.
Its been lovely.
Next week ...back to our regular day to day.
Have a lovely week everyone ...
Linda x
